Construction Update
Work on Main Street between the intersections of S. Winooski Ave. and S. Union Street is expected to be completed by the end of the week. This block of Main Street is scheduled to be reopened by Monday, 3/4/24.
Work within the Main/Pine Street intersection is scheduled to begin on Monday, 3/4. The contractor will be working to replace the sewer mains within the intersection. In order to complete this work, this intersection will be closed to vehicular traffic approximately 4 weeks.
Work within the Maple/Church Street intersection is scheduled to begin on Monday, 3/4. The contractor will install sewer bypass pump systems, continue utility relocation work, and will start installation of new sewer mains. In order to complete this work, this intersection will be closed to vehicular traffic approximately 4 weeks.
Intersection closures will only occur once Main Street has been fully reopened to through-traffic.
Traffic Update
Main Street is scheduled to reopen to through-traffic on Monday 3/4/24.
There will be several “Road Closed to Thru Traffic” signs to help vehicles navigate around the intersection closures. If your destination is within these areas proceed past the sign and navigate carefully to your destination.
Businesses are open during construction.
Looking Ahead
It is anticipated that the intersection of Maple Street and Church Street will be closed beginning Monday, 3/4/24. It is also anticipated that the intersection of Pine Street and Main Street will be closed beginning Monday, 3/4/24. Detour and traffic information will be made available next week.
Parking Update
The public parking lot at the northeast corner of Main Street and S. Winooski Avenue is now closed in order to complete ravine sewer bypass work. The lot will remain closed for several months – until further notice.
On-Street parking will be permitted on Main Street between Pine and St. Paul Street. Please note that parking spaces within 100 feet of the construction zone
will be restricted.
Parking lots located within any “local traffic only” roadways will be open and accessible. Please follow signage for access to local businesses and alternate business parking.
