Main Street Project Updates March 22, 2024

Construction Update

Work within the intersection of Main and Pine Street intersection will continue throughout the week next week. The contractor is continuing work to replace the sewer mains within the intersection.

Work within the Maple/Church Street intersection will also continue. The contractor will continue with work on sewer bypass pump systems, and utility relocation, and will start the installation of new sewer mains.

Traffic Update

 The intersections of Pine and Main Street, and the intersection of  Maple and Church Street are closed to through traffic. 

Looking Ahead

It is anticipated that the intersection of Maple Street and Church Street will be closed beginning Monday, 3/4/24. It is also anticipated that the intersection of Pine Street and Main Street will be closed beginning Monday, 3/4/24. Detour and traffic information will be made available next week.

Parking Update

Parking is now available at Courthouse Plaza at City rates ($1.50/hour) and opens up an additional 83 spaces of public parking at this location.

The public parking lot at the northeast corner of Main Street and S. Winooski Avenue remains closed to complete the ravine sewer bypass work. The lot will remain closed for several months – until further notice.

On-street parking will remain on Main Street between Pine and St. Paul Street. Please note that parking spaces within 100 feet of the construction zone will be restricted.

Parking lots located within any “local traffic only” roadways will be open and accessible.

Please follow the signage for access to local businesses and alternate business parking.
