Main Street Project Update, April 11, 2025

Construction Update
Work on underground utilities within the Main/S. Winooski intersection is progressing to the east and west sides of the intersection. Traffic flow North and South through the intersection has been restored.
Sewer main construction has progressed east (uphill) along Main St. toward S. Union.
Work is finishing up on the underground stormwater tanks located in front of City Hall Park. Work on the underground stormwater tank located near the Pine and Main intersection continues.
Water main replacement and temporary water main work will continue through March.

CHAMPLAIN PARKWAY IMPACTS
Pine Street (north) Kilburn Street to Main Street:
Starting Monday, April 14, and continuing through Wednesday, April 16, crews will install temporary construction signage throughout the project limits including along Pine Street and intersecting side streets between Kilburn Street and Main Street. Two-way traffic will be maintained, temporary traffic shifts and/or shoulder/parking lane closures may be required.
Pine Street (north) King Street to Main Street:
Starting Thursday, April 17, and continuing through the end of the month, crews will work at the intersection of King Street and Pine Street and on the segment of Pine Street between King Street and Main Street.

Traffic Update
Which streets are closed?
Main St: Church St. to S. Winooski is fully closed to vehicle traffic.
Main/Church intersection: expected to close as early as 4/21.
Main/Union intersection: restricted to right turns only heading north on Union and east onto Main.
Main/Pine intersection: will become a 4-way stop with signal removal later in the week of 4/14. This intersection will remain a 4-way stop and could close as early as 4/17 during work hours. This intersection could fully close 24/7 to vehicles as early as 4/21.
Timeframes for closures are subject to change. Updates will be provided as frequently as possible.

Where can I park?
FREE 2 Hours on-street parking through Parkmobile
Wednesdays and Thursdays 4/16 – 5/8
FREE 2 Hours at the Downtown Garage Monday – Saturday
FREE parking at meters and City garages on Sundays
Available Lots/Garages:
Courthouse Plaza Garage, S. Winooski Ave entrance, city rates ($1.50/hr)
Main/Winooski lot accessed via S .Winooski Ave.
Lower portion only.
Main: Some parking will be restored St. Paul-Church on north side as early as 4/14.
On street parking is available except where a meter bag or
‘No Parking’ sign is present.
On-Street Parking restrictions:
S. Union and College St.
Main: Church St – S. Winooski
