Main Street Project Updates Feb 23, 2024

Construction Update

Excavation and sewer work between the intersections of S. Winooski Ave. and S. Union Street will continue throughout the week of February 26th, 2024.
Work to be performed includes installation of new 48” sewer pipe runs and associated manholes. Back-filling of earth material, re-connection of adjacent water and gas utilities, and roadway restoration is also expected.

On Church Street (between King St. and Maple St.) the contractor will begin setup and installation of the sewer bypass pump systems the week of 2/25/24 – 3/2/24, in advance of new 48″ sewer pipe and manhole installation.

Traffic Update

Main Street will remain closed to all non-local traffic. It is anticipated that this block will be reopened to through-traffic on 3/2/24* (*subject to change).
Church Street (between Maple and King Streets): No roadway closures expected, however there is potential for temporary traffic stops and one-way alternating traffic during work hours.

Looking Ahead

It is anticipated that the intersection of Maple Street and Church Street will be closed beginning Monday, 3/4/24. It is also anticipated that the intersection of Pine Street and Main Street will be closed beginning Monday, 3/4/24. Detour and traffic information will be made available next week.

Parking Update

The public parking lot at the northeast corner of Main Street and S. Winooski Avenue is now closed in order to complete ravine sewer bypass work. The lot will remain closed for several months – until further notice.

Please follow signage for access to local businesses and alternate business parking.
