Main Street Project Updates August 9, 2024

Construction Update

Sidewalk and curb work on King Street  between S. Winooski Ave. through the intersection of Church St. is scheduled for completion this week.

Sewer work is also progressing north along Church Street
toward Main Street. This work could impact the intersection of Church and Main
as early as 8/19.

Water work will start with installing valves in the intersections of Main/Pine and Main/St Paul. Notifications about impacts to any water services will be by door hangers provided on 8/9 for any customers who might be impacted by the work. Otherwise, no water outages are anticipated.

Traffic Update

Upcoming:

Main and Pine Street – lane closures and possible intersection closure during the week of 8/12.

Main and St. Paul – lane closures for northbound traffic to Main Street during the week of 8/12.

Main and Church intersection is scheduled to close as early as 8/19.

 Ongoing:

Church Street from Main to Maple including the intersection of King Street/Church Street remains closed.

King Street is closed between Church Street and S. Winooski Ave.

Pedestrian traffic will be maintained around work zones. Follow designated pedestrian signage.

Parking Update

Additional public parking is available at the Courthouse Plaza garage

Parking at the Courthouse Plaza Garage (South Winooski Ave. entrance only) continues to be available at the City rate of $1.50/hour and space is still highly available.

City rates are only available on the level that is accessed from the South Winooski Ave. entrance.

Public parking on the surface level (access from Church Street) is available nights/weekends and is managed by Unified Parking Partners and follows
their rate structure.

Some public parking has been restored on the lot located at the corner of
Main St. and S. Winooski Ave.

Parking directly in and adjacent to work zones will be impacted.

Please follow signage for access to local businesses and alternate business parking.

Nearby Project Alerts

Church Street brick work will continue at the intersection of Church and College Street. There will be no through traffic between South Winooski and St. Paul Street along College Street (although access to Center Street will be maintained).
On-street parking will still be available
