Construction Update

NOVEMBER WORK SCHEDULE:

Sewer main construction between Church St. and S. Winooski
will continue.

Permanent water main installation on Main Street between St. Paul St. and Church St. will continue.

Base course of asphalt on  Lower Church Street is expected to be paved up to Main Street next week prior to Thanksgiving, weather permitting. Pedestrian movements will shift closer to the Main St. intersection.

Sewer, storm, and permanent water installation will continue in the intersection of St. Paul and Main St.

Thanksgiving Holiday schedule:

Next week the contractor will not be working from Noon on Wednesday, 11/27 through Sunday, 12/1.

Work will resume on Monday, 12/2.  

The next weekly update will be issued on Friday, 12/6.

DECEMBER WORK SCHEDULE:

Main Street between Winooski Avenue and Church Street will remain closed to vehicles as the contractor will be continuing with utility work in the area. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Water main replacement and temporary water main removal will be wrapping up along the Main Street corridor.

The Main/Pine intersection will be closed to vehicles for full depth reconstruction of the intersection starting mid-December and continuing beyond late-December. Pedestrian access will be maintained as will significant proximal
on-street parking

Overall, the contractor will work to reduce the construction limits during the holidays to the greatest extent possible.

Traffic Update

Main Street and Winooski Ave. Intersection:

Westbound Main Street traffic will be accommodated for passenger vehicles up to Winooski Avenue 24/7 with the ability to turn northbound and southbound onto Winooski Avenue through December 25. 

A truck detour will be in place for truck traffic.

The intersections of Main/St. Paul and Main/Church remain closed.

All vehicular access on Main Street between St. Paul and
Church is restricted.

Church Street from King to Main Street remains closed and will
reopen once pavement has been placed.

Once paving has been completed, vehicle access will be restricted north of the Courthouse Plaza entrance (the entrance will continue to be accessible).

Deliveries may be accommodated by coordinating with
the contractor

Pedestrian traffic will be maintained around work zones. Follow designated pedestrian signage.

Parking Update

Additional public parking is available at the Courthouse Plaza garage

All downtown core parking meters will have a holiday price roll-back to 99 cents / hour from Thanksgiving through New Year’s. This promotion was developed in conversations with downtown businesses and was approved by the DPW Commission.

Reduced parking is available on Main Street between Pine and St. Paul Street. No parking is available on Main between St. Paul and Church while both intersections are closed. 

Parking directly north/south of the active work zone at the St. Paul Street intersection will be impacted.

Parking at the Courthouse Plaza Garage (South Winooski Ave. entrance only) continues to be available at the City rate of $1.50/hour and space is still highly available.

City rates are only available on the level that is accessed from the South Winooski Aveentrance.

Some public parking has been restored on the lot located at the corner of Main St. and S. Winooski Ave.

Parking directly in and adjacent to work zones will be impacted, please obey on-street parking signage.

Limited on-street parking exists on Main Street between Church and S Winooski. Please do not park in areas that have meter bags or
are coned off.
